Free after completing a two-year sentence in a Federal Prison for transporting illegal whiskey, all Rowdy Arnold wanted to the solitude of his cabin and to be left alone.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans for the rambunctious loner. First, he discovers his high school sweetheart has married his worst enemy and third, a group of religious bigots want him back in jail. Finally, someone wants him dead.
The remains of Ron Connors turn up on his property beaten to death with a childhood baseball bat. The deputy dispatched to keep an eye on him finds herself defending her suspect and in the process puts her own career in jeopardy.
When Rowdy is eventually cleared of the crime, the sheriff, a friend of his father, persuades him to assist in the apprehension of a local mob leader and murderer.
To his dismay, the deal eventually involves safety of his new sweetheart, the auburn haired deputy who was originally assigned to spy on him.
