No one knew for certain when the Gods first appeared, other than it was long ago as told by the ancient legends, brought down through the ages ever since the dark days when the planet Earth was nearly destroyed. For centuries it had been the people’s responsibility to worship the Gods, come down from the heavens to live in their cities in the sky. It was also told that the Gods would watch over the people for the sins committed by those who came before. Once the Gods warred amongst themselves; those who believed that the people should perish for their sins, and those who thought they should give penance, for they had strayed from the path. And so the people worshiped those above, lest they once again risk invoking their anger.
