The Legacy of Redfern

The Haunted... For some reason, Cynthia Rutledge was reluctant to enter Redfern House that first day. It seemed to her the place was waiting...waiting with the ominous stillness of a cat before it pounces, crouched in the red ferns from which it got its name. So she wasn't surprised to hear that there was a ghost in the historic past of the old pre-Revolutionary War mansion her family had unexpectedly inherited: the ghost of beautiful, spoiled Cornelia Rutledge who, over a century ago, had stabbed her twin brother's fiancee in a jealous rage. Not that Cynthia believed in ghosts, of course...but then the nights of terror began. Nights of soft, shuffling footsteps and shapeless, vanishing white forms. Eerie manifestations even practical-minded young lawyer George Hendricks couldn't explain...nor could he explain why his enchantingly lovely Cynthia had been chosen as the target of this vengeful spirit of Redfern House...
