Deputy Tim Macon and Bobby Smith had been in love with one another for years, since Bobby was a teenager. They couldn't speak of or act on their feelings, however. Bobby was jailbait. While Tim waited for him to reach an age so he could share his feelings, Bobby developed an attitude and a penchant for getting in trouble. Just when things seemed to be settled for them, doubts crept in and insecurity tore them apart. That was when they met drag queen Ruby Sullivan, also known as Rory Sullivan. She was vivacious, dramatic, and unexpected. What was truly unexpected was Tim and Bobby's mutual attraction to Rory. Rory was equally attracted to them. He had come to Silver to work. Falling in love with one man would have been enough of a surprise, but two was downright shocking. It had not been part of the plan. He would have to decide if he wanted love more than fame.
