The Last Summer of Innocence

Set in 1913, this romantic saga moves from the Cambridgeshire fens to the battlefields of World War I France. Forced by her mother to move in with wealthy distant cousins in order to avoid seeing her mother die of consumption. Sixteen-year-old Kate Linton spends the summer at Brockmere and for her it is a time of romantic and spiritual awakening. She soon finds companionship - and something more with handsome, devil-may-care Harry. Then she learns of her mother's death and a shocking secret, and discovers that the "ultimate sacrifice" her supposedly ailing mother had made is not all it appears to be.
