This is a story about growing old, and about the many things changing in life, because everything in life changes as we journey through it. Written by the award winning author, attorney, and former teacher, Penelope Dyan, this 'learn to read' book, filled with word repetition, word recognition and rhyme, is meant to take a child on a small journey through the changes of life, but Dyan also wants the adults to know they should let the child see what he or she wants to see, and not put any ideas into the child's head; because this would defeat the purpose of the words. Sometimes a child fears change, and just wants everything to remain the same as it always has been; and it is for this reason Penelope Dyan wrote this book. Life is also about the memories, and the stories the old tell us and about how to remember the stories we are told! And this book was actually inspired by a woman who lovingly, gently and fondly referred to herself to someone who loved and remembered her, as 'the last old woman standing.'
