The Last Campaign

The U.S. Army's 1885 Apache Campaign into Mexico to catch Geronimo was to be the last campaign, the final chapter in the bloody Indian wars of the American Southwest.It was also to be Hanford Jones' last campaign as well. In his mid-40s the former Confederate Army Officer turned U.S. Army contract scout knew he was getting too old for the job but that the Yankee money was too good to pass up, especially if he was going to finally settle down and put all of the fighting behind him.The 'Old West' was quickly disappearing but it wasn't going without reminding those who had thought it was gone of its painful past and still deadly reach.
