The Land Rushers

When the U.S. Government threw open the unoccupied Indian lands in the Oklahoma Territory to settlers in 1889, sane men and women were caught up in a raging land-fever. They came by the thousands, the 'Boomers' and 'Sooners', the good and the bad, running roughshod over anything that stood in their way. Often the victim was the Indian. Fighting the tide were a dedicated few such as Miranda Goodrowe and her part-Indian husband Grand, who became a martyr in the cause. Miranda herself searching for the secret of her birth, found herself swept away by a stranger a perverse passion in that wild and turbulent time.
