The ladies of the keep fear for Lady Megge when she refuses the king's edict to marry. They fear for their lives when she asks them to help defend Castle Rising. And they laugh in delight when she reveals her plan: for each woman to deny her man sexual favors until he surrenders.

The men aren't laughing.
