Corinna Haydon's family moves to Paris to encourage her to forget her love for Fabian Grenville, but her growing affection for Sir Richard Beresford may not be enough to mend her broken heart.

Lovely Corinna Haydon, suspected of mooning over the notorious Fabian Grenville, is taken by her family to Paris, where it is hoped she will meet an eligible suitor.

With them is Sir Richard Beresford, her sister's brother-in-law, who has known Corinna since she was a child - and loved her in secret for all these years. But since she has always regarded Richard as a brother, romance doesn't seem likely.

In France they find themselves in great danger - Napoleon has just declared that all Englishmen be taken prisoner - and it is only Richard's skill that enables them to escape. Suddenly Corinna begins to look at Richard with different eyes.

Then Grenville makes an unexpected appearance...
