About This Book

An anonymous letter brings Sara Blair hurrying from Canada to Moor Cliff, the grim old house on a bleak ridge of the Yorkshire moors. Here live her cousins, Ralph and Paul Holland, with their sick mother Sara's Aunt Mary.

From the start Sara realises that there is something very wrong at Moor Cliff. Her aunt is the only one who could tell her what it is, but she is paralysed.

A rig drilling for oil adds a modern touch to the wild landscape, but in the old house emotions are primitive and rooted in the past.
