The House at Lake Taupo

It was concern for a small dog that caused Jill Fordham to occupy Laura Fraser's house on the shores of Lake Taupo when the later was rushed into hospital. At first Jill did not believe that Laura had been lured away from home, nor did she consider that danger to herself lurked along the shores of the lake.

'Don't let any strangers into the house,' Laura had pleaded, but this was not easy when the strangers appeared. There was Tony Freeman, to whom Jill was attracted, and Sara Burnett and her parents who lived nearby. There was the florid-faced man who stepped from the lake, and the man who appeared in the hall. What interest did Laura's house hold for these people?
