In November 1942, sixteen year old Nan and her two brothers find themselves in a precarious situation. Their mother is in a comma and their father is in the Navy. They have no idea where he might be stationed. Nan quickly realizes that she has to take charge of both the situation and her brothers. They have to find a way to survive on their own. An empty house appears to be their only answer. They also find that their parents have been keeping secrets from them. The answers seems to be in the empy house.
