The peaceful countryside concealed a deadly killer. When newlywed Anne Marryat went to live with her husband in a cozy country cottage in the village of Ashfield, life seemed calm and blissfully serene. But then a killer struck, and Anne, a lawyer by profession, was asked to defend the young woman who had been arrested for the crime. Anne didn't think the police were right. She questioned her neighbors about the comings and goings in the small town, and was even more convinced of her client's innocence. The killer was still at large, and it could turn out to be someone Anne knew very well.
