Locked away as a hostage of Cane, Anjette is forced to either fight or feign love if she ever intends to see Kegan again. With only one friend at her side, she struggles through endless days of torture and starvation as a vampire's reluctant "daughter." Meanwhile, after receiving the news of his cousin's death, Zachary Dover throws himself into a blind search, convinced that Anjette is alive. Along the way he meets a young hunter named Gillian Wedlock, who offers to help but at no small cost. Old and new friends collide once again with tensions of all sorts. Backed into a corner the group has nowhere else to turn, except to a stranger who claims to be a friend. This ancient and mysterious creature seems angelic enough, but can the group really trust them with their lives?
