The Hand of God It is the fate of humanity to worry about the future. Where will it all end? When will the next asteroid collide with Earth? When will Yellowstone erupt? What happens when the San Andreas Fault finally fails? Cosmologists think in even bigger terms. What is the fate of the Universe? A Big Crunch or the Big Freeze? At some point, someone will have an answer to all of these questions. It might not be an answer we want to hear. Fendrel was a young medieval page, accompanying his master on a journey to the Holy Land to join the Third Crusade. Little did he expect to see a vision of the doom of the world, and even less did he expect that eight hundred years later he would be helping to save humanity from extinction.
