The Ghosts of Allegheny Mountain

Kate Resnick, a registered nurse, is planning on a peaceful summer caring for a frail and aging widow at a resort in the lush mountains of West Virginia. But Mrs. Cobb is more independent than she looks: Her family home is in the hill country some distance away, and in spite of Kate's reservations, she is determined to make a pilgrimage.

On their way to the Appalachian homestead they meet the handsome forest ranger Tom Salliday. Kate is charmed by him, but he increases her trepidation of visiting Mrs. Cobb's deep woods home by sharing tales of ghosts that roam the chilly, windswept hills. When they finally arrive at the creaky, weather-beaten house, Kate is sure that things are not what they seem. Mrs. Cobb's grandson is lying in wait, and it's obvious by his secretive, ingratiating manner that he has something--something scary--up his sleeve.
