The Fortune Hunter

James White-Hawk Morgan owns a trading post in the Mohawk River Valley in New York and has a promising future.  What he lacks are connections in high places, like England.  So, he travels to London where he intends to remedy the situation, and there meets Lizzie Gardner, a beautiful spinster with few prospects she will accept.  There is an immediate attraction between James and Lizzie, yet before he can do more than call upon her, a family tragedy strikes and James is forced to return home.  Then, their correspondence begins, and though an ocean separates them, James woos Lizzie and wins her heart.  After a proxy marriage, Lizze sets sail for New York, but when she arrives, she finds that nothing is as James described in his wondrous letters.  The enigmatic, handsome rogue Lizzie married is a man keeping secrets, and the very thing that brought them together now threatens to tear them apart.
