Two more unlikely fortune-hunters than Miss Jessica Franklin and Mr. Matthew Walsingham would be hard to find. But they had no problem locating each other in Bath.

Jessica could not credit her luck to find in Matthew both love and money, and Matthew could scarce believe that Jessica was as lovely as she was wealthy. The pair of them were prodigiously pleased.

But as fate would have it, the truth will out. And whether they would still take each other for richer or poorer became the uppermost question in each of their minds.
