The Fitzgerald Chronicles is a mixture of adventure and discovery. In 1914, William W. Fitzgerald leaves his Florida home to become an aviator under the tutelage of the famous aviation pioneer, Glenn Curtiss. This journey takes William throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
William learns to fly in fragile machines and eventually joins the famous Lafayette Escadrille. He experiences the opulent wealth and life styles of the Morgans and the Vanderbilts. He also discovers the squalor of New York's cold-water flats, the excitement of Broadway, and the grandeur of the great hotels. In San Diego, he visits the Panama-California Exposition as it is being built. William flies over the site of the first Texas oil gusher. He experiences the horror of war and the pain of a broken heart.
