A young probationer nurse at a large teaching hospital like St. Martin's doesn't have much time for leisure - let alone romance. Attractive, young Rose Standing learned what it was like to work under an exacting Sister, to be so busy that hunger and fatigue are forgotten, to lose count of the days in the hectic routine.

But a girl as pretty as Rose is bound to attract attention. There were of course the usual overtures from the students - but Rose knew how to deal with them.
