The First Day's Night

A voice from the past draws Annie back to the reservation where she spent her childhood among the Navajo people. But, to return now, Annie must confront the emotional demons from that last day so many years agoathe day her father died. The reservation appears unchanged but, as Annie hears Grandmotheras cryptic message, she wonders if this is only an illusion. Annie faces Jimmy, the boy she loved so long ago, and finds him sullen and hostile. Then she meets the teacher who, in some innocuous way, mirrors her fatheras life. When old photos surface and undermine Annieas confidence about her childhood, she is forced to question the real meaning of home and family. Can Annie find the truth she is seeking? And, if she can, will the answers illuminate the past or will they cast an ugly light on the remaining happy memories of her childhood?
