The Fires of Freedom

Ben Haynes, postrider for the Patriots, is in love with Abigail Preston, a young widow under the control of her domineering mother-in-law. Ma Preston, however, is not about to allow the two to marry. The last thing the old woman wants is for Abigail to take her little son away from the farm. Still, Ben believes there has to be a way for him and Abigail to be together -- and he'll pay whatever price is required.
