About This Book

The Exiles is a fictional account about a family caught in the events during the subjugation of the Kingdom of Judah by the Babylonian Empire. Manasseh ben Yakov, a young silversmith and his wife experience life in Jerusalem before the siege, and then flee to a small settlement in the hills to escape the coming destruction. They believe they can escape the consequences of the fall of Jerusalem, and discover that they cannot and are swept up in the disastrous events in the years that follow. The events of the story outline what occurred before, during and after the conquest of Jerusalem in 587 B.C.E. using Biblical sources, legendary accounts, and recent research into this dramatic time period.
