SOME ENCHANTED EVENING

It was already twilight--that uncertain time between night and day--when Kareth Langley's car broke down in the midst of the Big Thicket. Enormous pine trees stretched out as far as the eye could see; in their midst pale dogwoods seemed to float like an army of ghosts.

In those half-real surroundings Kareth set out to find her way back home to reality, never dreaming she would stumble into an enchanted glen filled with fantastic wooden animal carvings-and the golden-haired stranger who was their creator. Kareth had never believed in fairy tales, but from the moment Lake Thorsen stared into her startled eyes, she knew the magic was just beginning.
