About This Book

A giant habitable planet which is rich in resources is discovered, triggering the ultimate space race. Countries thoughout the world build tens of thousands of starships and entice billions of their citizens to take the nearly thirty year journey through space to colonize the new world. "The Great Exodus" as it becomes known, eventually depletes Earth's resources and causes the collapse of the world economy. Governments and infrastructures dissolve soon after. Michael Trane, a bio-electronically enhanced airplane mechanic, leads his grandson, Keith across the violent remnants of the United States in search of a civilized home and eventually finds it in Corpus Christi, Texas, a town populated by three lonely people. Zachary Steinhause, a physician, Jeanie, his silent live-in patient & Javier Betancourt, the caretaker of the city's Naval Air Station. In time, Michael & Javier learn to recondition a World War Two-era airplane and scout the land for signs of people. This gathers some wanderers to Corpus Christi, but also unwanted attention from a powerful and hostile clan who blame technology for mankind's demise on Earth. Fearing the handful of inhabitants of Corpus Christi, the clan mounts an attack. Michael Trane rushes into the air to defend his new home, but one man, one plane may not be enough against the onslaught of ignorance.
