From rescuing a lovely woman in danger to escorting a possible scientific miracle, Clint Adams finds himself once more riding into danger and wrapped up in more mystery than even The Gunsmith may be able to shoot his way out of. Katelyn Tanner needed Clint Adams' help and, once she'd received it, she coaxed him into assisting her uncle Edward Laury, a chemist claiming to have invented a conconction that can keep food from spoiling. Laury needs The Gunsmith to help him get his creation to where it can be auctioned off to the highest bidder, but also wants him to make sure the potential buyers plan to use the chemical for all the right reasons. Taking it on face value, Adams ends up leading the wagon carrying the precious cargo through hard country and up against hard men intent on hijacking it, chemical and all. The hardest part of the journey, however, comes when Adams discovers what's really in the wagon. Then The Gunsmith has to make the possibly deadly choice of going from protector to thief himself!
