Penniless, alone in Victorian London, Jenny Stephens found herself trapped behind a ribbon counter, until handsome young Bradford Maguire offered her a business proposition: marriage. In return she need only pretend to be his wife for a while, to help him gain an inheritance that was his rightful due.
