The Delta Elite

Clifton Brakemeyer fishes the Sacramento Delta's Snodgrass Slough one warm summer morning. He snags his line on something large and drifting. He dives in the murky slough and brings a trussed body to the surface. The body is an old friend from high school, Johnny McCall. The retired Navy SEAL and police detective vows to find Johnny's killer and bring him to justice. Brakemeyer's former partner, Detective Sergeant Calvin Chu, assists his friend unofficially. Brakemeyer's investigation leads him to Boston where the men he intends to question turn up dead. Julia Delmar, the millionaire art patron and sponsor of Brakemeyer's investigation, suddenly goes missing. The unofficial detective narrowly escapes an assassination attempt. As Brakemeyer closes in on the killer of Johnny McCall, he is taken hostage by fanatics determined to solve the earth's overpopulation problem. Julia Delmar and Detective Chu also become captives of the murderous group. Disease and killer insects threaten everyone. Brakemeyer must survive and save his friends. He must also face down Johnny's killer, and stop the mad plans of the group calling themselves the Defenders of Jasoom.
