The Curse of Montezuma

This splendid new trio of short novels by the incomparable Les Savage, Jr., opens with "Comanche Legend." Comanche was the horse ridden by General Custer at the time of his defeat at the Little Big Horn. The Hart Farms has been using Comanche as a stud with mares, the foals being sold for a high price. Caddo Adair is charged with the task of capturing Comanche, but he finds much resistance to his effort, beginning with an attempt on his life. In "The Legend of Yallow Hole" cattle rustlers Bibo Adams and Running Iron Smith come to the Yallow Valley section of Wyoming Territory. Running Iron is forced into a undesirable job by a woman with a gun in return for the release of his friend. "The Curse of Montezuma" continues the saga of Elgera Douglas, know as Se?orita Scorpion. A powerful Indian who claims to be the reincarnation of Montezuma II is organizing the Indian tribes in the Southwest to found a new Aztec empire. Elgera receives help from an old Comanche woman that will allow her to penetrate Montezuma's stronghold in the Guadalupe Mountains, but only at great risk.

Les Savage, Jr. was born in Alhambra, California and grew up in Los Angeles.
