The Cost of Passage

Fourteen-year-old Anna knows her family must get out of Russia, soon. The war is almost on their doorstep and their only hope of peace and happiness is to get passage to Canada where her friend, Johnny, and all her dreams await.

Anna has an iron will and big plans for her future and she is determined to make them all come true, with or without the help of her family or God. As she struggles to raise the cost of passage to Canada and help keep her family together and safe during the increasingly devastating civil war, she comes up against countless setbacks, tragedies, and heartaches.

Just when Anna s dreams seem completely unreachable, a drawer of moldy bread buns and an unusual friendship help her to understand trust and sacrifice. Anna is finally able to claim her greatest treasure in complete surrender to God.
