The Confession

Schlepping bedpans for seniors was not sixteen-year-old Olivia Weaver’s idea of a perfect summer, but a ninety-five year old woman with a secret past could have her rethinking the way she’s been behaving. Olivia is spiraling. Without a stable home life, she is getting into fights, distracted by boys and her grades are dropping. In a final effort to help turn her life around, Olivia’s aunt and uncle take her in for the summer. They sign her up to volunteer at a local nursing home in order to keep her out of trouble. She meets Clara Brown, a pleasant old lady with a surreptitious past she has never revealed to anyone. The pair bond over their mutual proclivity to bad boys and daydreaming and Clara tells Olivia her life story and how her world was transformed by the troubled and enigmatic Henry Daugherty. Clara, hoping to help Olivia avoid a similar fate, reveals all in her confession in hopes that Olivia will not venture down the same dark and perilous road.
