The Colony

The Colony (88,292 words) Reptoids were the most feared creature in the solar system. They survived just fine in the vacuum of space. Kept frozen in their eggs they were harmless. Warmed up they would eat out of their shells to create havoc wherever they went. When the Saturn Radio Relay Station picked up alien chatter they assumed that it was distant Reptoids talking. Later they were able to observe three huge hive ships heading in their direction at the speed of light. Still years away the military chose the young woman who discovered them and set her in a newly built ship armed with asteroid busters to go out and blow up the ships. While the massive explosions would probably not kill the Reptoids it would prevent their hive ships from entering the solar system where mankind was king. This young officer went out with her ship and android: sentient series as her only companion to face down the coming enemy. My God bless her soul!
