About This Book

The Church on the Hill is a mix of short stories set in England, New Zealand and Australia. Ranging from a fantasy story of a high ranking Dragon through ghost tales and bizarre tales involving cats and rats, there is enough variety to amuse all readers. The Rice Bowl and Tell us a Story are based on actual experience, and The Morepork Cry, and the title story, The Church on the Hill are tales set in actual locations. The Collins Gang, set in South Australia is inspired by the author's experience working at the BHP Steel Works and exploring the South Australian State during his time off, and of course listening to the tales told to him. Likewise, when dealing with the story of the drowned mines in New Zealand, this is also a result of combining a number of ideas gleaned from tales of the land. The title story, The Church on the Hill, brings the reader back to thinking of the Saxons and memories of The Warrior, set in the time of the Druids. The stories are written to appeal to those who like variety and difference, and like stimulation of ideas and themes that are amusing and creepy.
