About This Book

The Duke of Strathnarn went down on one knee before Clola and put his hands together, palm to palm. Then, looking up at her, he said very slowly:

"I swear by Almighty God to protect and serve you. I will love you with my whole heart, worship you as my wife, and strive to give you happiness."

His voice seemed to vibrate through Clola. Every word gave her a thrill. Then, because she sensed he was waiting for her response, she put her hands on each side of his and shyly bent to kiss his cheek.

But instead of his cheek it was his lips she found. And suddenly she was in his arms and he was kissing her hungrily, fiercely, passionately.

"You are mine!" the Duke cried, and there was a note of triumph in his voice. "Mine, and no one shall take you from me!"
