Milo the science geek has a problem. Everybody in school is obsessed with his science fair specimen: a baby chick. They treat his specimen like royalty. They name her Henrietta and insist she's a good luck charm, a mascot for the hockey team--even a friend!

Milo is totally baffled. He just wants to use his specimen to demonstrate the complete life cycle of a link in the food chain. And that means following the project through to the final step: cooking her up to be eaten!
