About This Book

King Memorial Hospital was born out of turmoil following one of the most publicized and explosive riots in the history of the United States. The Nation finally realized the urgent need for a hospital to provide emergency and ongoing medical care for minority Blacks and Hispanics in a mixed ghetto - barrio of suffering. While the need was apparent and known, its difficult birth required the people to rise up in resurrection and the determination of community leaders, doctors and a special politician to make it a reality. The ongoing story of this fictional hospital and its story could be played out in any metropolitan city. Those in power did not want to make the monetary sacrifice or desire that promoted scrutiny beyond that expected or needed of the now mostly black hospital's success. Therefore, the young, primary Black doctors and staff carried the responsibility and unusual burden on their skills and shoulders. Dramatic events in the hospital challenged their senses. However they were fortified by Mercy and Mercy is King.
