Follow this family's adventures in a new land from starting a dry-goods store, to mining, to constructing a railroad in the Adirondacks. They followed the American dream and succeeded by hard work.
After turbulent times and successful undertakings, this family attained success. Each of their children gradually flew away from their family's nest and created lives of their own, but always retained their sense of family closeness.
They watched over their now aging parents, who still remain close to each other.
