Two geo-chemists, Kitty Cochrane and Gus Wilson, are asked to investigate a possible natural gas reservoir beneath the Scottish estate of Bernard Morris, a London entrepreneur. The gas contains a volatile and dangerous element which could trigger a natural disaster on the scale of Chernobyl.
