The Broken Engagement

Anna Mast has accepted Daniel Studer's proposal of marriage. She is giddy with excitement, and her mind spins with wedding plans. When Daniel stops by the next day, refusing to come inside, instant dread courses through her. And Anna is right to worry. Daniel has been caught by Deacon Elias using technology, and he is to come before the church for discipline. Daniel refuses to explain to Anna his reasons for the technology, and he wants to call off the engagement to save her his shame. Refusing to accept this, she tries to hold on, but her father, upon hearing the news, severs the engagement and sends Anna away to her aenti's. With her engagement over and her home taken from her, Anna can't imagine life ever becoming good again. But she doesn't plan on meeting Luke Miller. He has her smiling within minutes. When he falls for her, Anna is caught in the middle. Shouldn't she stand by Daniel-despite what he's done and her disappointment in him?
