About This Book

The Blessing - a Christmas story reminding families about the blessing that has been freely given to each and everyone of us - life. A hush descends the sacred forest as a small boy and his father make their way through the forest undergrowth. They stop in front of a tall pine tree. As the father prepares to cut down the tree, the boy pleads with him to stop, for the tree is different, and has a destiny to fulfil. The boy reaches into his pocket and places a golden star on the lowest branch. He returns for 14 days and places another star onto the tree. Then the people come and admire the tree, until they start to remove the stars, leaving the tree bare and naked. The boy and his father return with the sharp axe. As the boy's father lines up the axe against the trunk of the tree, the boy's tear lands on the ground, revealing a golden start missed by the looters. The boy climbs the father's axe and then the branches to the top of the tree, and places the golden star there for all to see. The people return, and stare at the tree in awe as the heavens open up to reveal the sacredness and majesty of all life. The Blessing will be a book to be shared yearly at Christmas time, and handed down through the generations of families. It is a timely reminder of one of the greatest gifts that have been bestowed upon us. That we are all one and the same, and must walk with gentle steps of thankfulness and peace upon the earth, caring for all life in kindness, friendship, patience and understanding.
