About This Book

No European region in recent history has seen as much suffering and devastation as the Balkans, where all the terrible manifestations of man's inhumanity to man could be demonstrated, and sometimes televised to a complacent world. What is unknown to most of us is that similar ethnic cleansing atrocities took place 117 years earlier in the Balkans. In 1877/1878 however there was no television coverage to report the atrocities; no UN peace-keepers to witness the slaughter. The antagonists were the same Moslems and Christians. The victims then were not called Bosnaks; they were Cherkess, better know in the West as Circassians.
