About This Book

Happily, Senator Mike McBride's wife, Juliette, is finally able to join him in their Arlington, Virginia apartment, after a delay while she finishes up her job back home in New Mexico. Juliet begins her new position as the White House investigative reporter for WXN-TV. When Juli meets her friend Fran Whittaker for lunch, Fran shares suspicions about a possible felony occurring at the home of the Saudi ambassador. Juliette smells a scandal. She cannot resist poking her nose-for-news into a very dangerous crime syndicate. Soon she learns the scope of the scandal involves far more than she originally thought. She adopts the pen name of Julius Carolli and writes a series of newspaper columns exposing it. Juliette's life is threatened when she goes looking for Fran, who has disappeared. She narrowly escapes with her life, but Mike's dog, Lady, saves her by attacking the hired assassin. A co-conspirator of the syndicate boss manages to throw suspicion for the attempted murder onto Senator Mike. He and his bodyguard, Cynthia Patterson, take risks in an attempt to exonerate Mike. Further revelations involve smuggling, kidnapping, selling of human body parts, slave trading and a human trafficking syndicate with international connections.
