This historical novel takes place in the year 1356 during the Hundred Years War between England and France. It centers around the battle of Poitiers, the least known of the three great English victories during that war. It tells the story of a young English archer, Will Burton, who quickly comes of age amidst the violence of his times.
It is a medieval story of a young man trained in archery from his childhood and called upon to defend his family and his homeland during the Great War. There were three decisive English victories during the Hundred Years War, Crecy was the first, Poitiers, the second and Agincourt the third. The English archers were the secret weapon of the times.
