The Anatomy of a Multi-Cell Fraud

The skyrocketing financial cost of a post-secondary school education combined with the downturn in the Canadian economy in general and the Toronto economy specifically. High unemployment, inflated food prices, low vacancy rates, escalating mortgage interest rates, resulted in a recipe for a group of college students, from economically struggling backgrounds to enter into a fraudulent plan fuelled by the greed, selfishness and self-indulgence of one of the students. The Fraud was perpetrated against The Canada Revenue Agency for the sole purpose of extracting money for each student’s individual and family’s needs, leading to dire consequences.
