It was a simple leather notebook…that could save the world. When Fritz Löwenstein came to America in 1892 to work for the great Nikola Tesla, one of the first things the famous inventor had him do was keep a notebook that recorded unexplainable events Tesla didn't want his investors to know about. Such as the "shadow people" whose images appeared when Tesla started experimenting with X-rays. More than a century later, Tesla is celebrated as one of the greatest inventors of all time, including claims that he had discovered a way to transport limitless energy anywhere in the world, free of cost. That same notebook is inherited by college student Emil "Eli" Inverness, great-great-grandson of Fritz Löwenstein. While Eli is simply interested in staying in school, forces around him-good and bad-believe the book holds the secret to ending the world's energy problem forever. A few others fear that it will open the gates to the "shadow people" and whatever lies on the other side. Two eras linked by a small, leather book.
