About This Book
Riley Thomas put together an expedition to search for her grandfather Sir John Thomas, who disappeared nine years before she was born. Only she and her guide Dawson McKenna returned to London from Terra Prima, deep beneath the heart of the Amazon. Sadly, her weapons expert Judge Marsh, and her grandfather died while still within the caverns of Terra Prime. Three members of her original party voluntarily remained behind … her linguist Hayden Wilson, her engineer Mansfield Cooper, and her cook Proctor Stewart; all developed attachments to the caverns for various reasons. However, they did bring back three extra people, Reece of Poseidis, the man responsible for security at Terra Prime, Rayna, a Hellene princess who chose Reece over her own people, and Brenna of Suson, one of the original architects of Terra Prime. As for the three people who remained behind, they did so with the understanding that the power was failing in the main cavern. Several months after Riley and Dawson returned to London, they returned to the Poseidis teleportation facility, intent on discovering how their friends were faring in the Terra Prime caverns. The teleportation receiving station was off-line in the caverns, but their suspicion was just that Mansfield was installing the new fusion reactor. Riley decided to give them at least six months before checking again.
Two years passed by since then while Riley presented Dawson, her husband, with two children. The people in the Terra Prime caverns were always on her mind as she waited patiently, expecting that Hayden and Mansfield would show up in London unexpectedly. At the worst, Riley expected to hear from one of them that all was well at Terra Prime and they decided to remain there for a while longer, but that was not to be the case, either. That was when Riley had a dream, one revealing that the first four caverns were in darkness, and their friends were still living in them. Without forcefields to keep the carnivores out of the main cavern, life became tenuous, and the chances of reaching the end cavern, thirty-five kilometers away, were almost impossible when armed with only primitive spears. Riley put together another team to save them. Could they reach their friends in time to save them and return them to the surface? Did they even want to leave Terra Prime?
For some reason, her youngest brother Donald was also with her team in the cavern and in her dreams, but why? Possibly, it was because he would fall into a newly formed chasm and disappear down an underground river, forcing them to search for him. At the same time, all wasn’t well within the caverns as fear and unrest finally surfaced within the Terra Prime Atlanteans. Perhaps, his disappearance was meant to eventually unite three groups of Atlantean/ Hellene survivors for the benefit of everyone.
What seemed like a difficult mission quickly became an almost impossible one. Yet, adventures are diverse and many, as they battle man and beast, and discover technology beyond anything known to exist at the time. Love unites couples after thousands of years alone, new enemies and new friends are met, the lives of loved ones are lost, friendships arise between the strangest of creatures, and rebellion breaks out when a way of life appears to be disappearing. The battle is on to restore an aging technology before it fails everyone, or at least find the way out of the caverns before the oldest of civilizations crumbles into oblivion when time runs out for everyone and everything in the caverns.
