The race is on as Koty fights to discover whether he's made it into Perpetual Smile. Koty is desperate to listen to the voicemail that could change his life. But ESX has responsibilities, and their manager is determined to keep Koty busy. Frenzied fans and starry-eyed stylists throw themselves in his way, too, and Koty is convinced that if he can't listen to that voicemail, he won't make it through the night.



Delayed by Koty's display in the airport, Jett makes her way to Phillip's deathbed. Meanwhile, Perpetual Smile's label and management team make a deal behind her back.



Tempo is the fast-paced followup to Amplified, and is the second novelette in the ESX series.
