Christabel Warwick has taken over her family's ancient observatory in the English countryside, ostensibly to watch a comet, actually to keep a long-standing (six years!) rendezvous with her childhood sweetheart Piers. Alas, Piers turns out to have been killed in a hit-and-run the year before--or was it murder, as many suspect? And if so, who could have done such a thing, if not his attractive reclusive uncle Kit Temple, who stood to inherit his estate? Unless it could have been his sexy but odd friend Simon, who falls for Chris? Or his old eccentric schoolteacher, Miss May, with her obsessions with the Tarot and ghosts?
