The Taino were the people who met Columbus upon his arrival in the New World. This is the story of Migua, a young Taino man and Surani, his bride-to-be, and the adventures, hardships, and perils they endured before, during, and after the arrival of Columbus. The story tells of the culture clash between the Spaniards and the Taino. It also tells of an affair between a young Spaniard and a Taino girl, and how their affair intertwines with the story of Migua and Surani.
